The Lights Went Out All Over Europe: A Danse Macabre,
will be touring the east coast shortly. The actors play the various key figures in the outbreak of WWI: The Kaiser, The Czar, President Poincare, Sir Edward Grey, and several top military officers. Their script follows exactly the actual statement of these various personages as they blundered into was in the summer of 1914. Each actor speaks in the language used at the time, so when the Kaiser and the Czar are communicating with each other , it is in English (since that is the language in which they exchanged telegrams during the crisis); the Czar and the French president communicate in French, etc. An English translation is projected on a big screen above the stage. There is also musical accompaniment and lots of imaginative lighting. Volker Berghahn at Columbia was similarly impressed so he is sponsoring performances of the group in New York City as well.

The first performance will be at the Black Box Theater in the Aggannis Arena at Boston Univeristy, February 27 & 28, 2006.

Additional performance schedules will be posted when they are announced.
Thanks to Lannie Liggera and Bill Keylor for this news.
