Brigadier General (Ret.) Robert A. Doughty served as Professor and Head of the Department of History at the United States Military Academy from 1985 to 2005.
The winner of the next Tomlinson Book Prize will be announced at our Annual
National Seminar at the Naval War College, Newport Rhode Island in 2007.
The
Tomlinson Prize is awarded annually by the United States Branch of the Western
Front Association for the best work of history, in English, on the World War
One era. It consists of $3,000 and a certificate. The prize is endowed by
Norman B. Tomlinson, Jr., a long-time member and Director-emeritus of the
United States Branch of the Western Front Association.

The annual award winner is selected by a panel chaired by Dennis Showalter, past President of the Society for Military History and Professor of History at Colorado College. The other members of the Prize Panel for 2003 are Holger H. Herwig, Professor of History at the University of Calgary, Dr. Hew Strachan of Oxford University, Brig. Gen. Robert Doughty, retired head of the History Department at West Point, and Robert Cowley, former editor of Military History Quarterly.
